Anime & Rutabagas • 2 years ago

This was a very skippable series but still somewhat enjoyed it nonetheless....

The CGI was the highlight in this lol

Amoni Elsadai Gulo • 2 years ago

The anime made it Skippable. The manga tho.... GODDAMN!

Kirito • 2 years ago

I sure hope we get to see more of that caith sith he's so cool he keeps carrying that sign and always has a message what a cool cat

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

I'll be sure to read the manga then. But I won't pay for it, not if this studio gets a single penny from it.

Shadow • 2 years ago

the author a made a request to an anime studio to make an anime, THEN it gets animated to give the manga more exposure you would give money to support the authors themselves not the studio.

Ohms Nuttachai • 2 years ago

I will tell you the secret. I always half watching this while reading comments from gogo but still managed to understand everything just fine lol

Kirito • 2 years ago

I didn't really care about the cgi here I'm always looking for that caith sith cat he's so cool man and Mira is counting on that first mate cat because he's so cool I'm gonna cry because this is the last episode no more cool guy cat

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

This was brought to you by Studio A-Cat, the studio behind Frame Arms Girls, Tamayomi, Soukou Musume Senki, and a few others.
Honestly, considering this studio's track record, and the fact School Days director Keiitarou Motonaga is at the helm as director, and given some of the others he's directed for A-Cat, can't say I'm surprised this generic fantasy crap would be this terrible, it screams corporate, as in it might as well have been made by suits!
Ain't say much to say really. The CGI's crap, our characters ain't even characters, and WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** is with the pee jokes?! I expect this coming from Illumination, the guys behind the Minions, I should NOT expect toilet humor in anime! There's better ways to treat me like a f***ing moron! Screw this show, I'm done...
Final Verdict: 3/10

Sprayquaza • 2 years ago

NGL watching in 2x speed improved the animation a bit :3

Kirito • 2 years ago

This anime is a bit too lighthearted and I think this anime is for like kids

Shadow • 2 years ago

actually it's an all age genre and if you have heard of slice of life this anime has a slice of life feel to it so it's sort of comedy fantasy with light hearted slice of life as a sub genre. a lot of these japanese made anime/manga has a sub genre to it sorta like how overlord LN has a horror sub genre to it.

sub genre as in it isn't the genre it is marketed/promoted as such but it's still has that feel to it.

in case you have no idea what sub genre i'm talking about.

Whoever • 2 years ago

agreed, it was crap

go1 • 2 years ago

Lmao i have like 2 muted trolls on the top of the comment section again, did they hated on another anime again? xd
The only weird thing was last battle with big guy cause it made us see that they lacked budget/time to continue the anime. Everything else before that i looked forward to.
Just like everyone else in the 69 responses[not comments]. :)

Its not suprising that there is hate for this anime, i mean its not like a tripple A title or anything. I enjoyed the show and looked forward to it every week as it was a calm/relaxing watch. Also I can look past their mistakes and enjoy the show for what it is. Others should try to do the same and they should have a much more enjoyable time. But please note even I have limits and I'm not saying that the hate is misplaced its just that its not ex arm so, it should be fine

go1 • 2 years ago

Bro,those people i blocked are LITERALLY in every comment section saying stuff like "this anime is $hit, reeeeeeee! calarts of west is the greatest!!!! REEEEEEEEEEE!!!!111 TALK TO ME,WORSHIP ME OR CANCEL,REEEEEE!!!11111" ,i dont treat them seriously. If you want to join those clowns, then feel free to.
Clowns like them after all were meant to please the royalty[not peasants, cause one of the reasons is that in medieval ages they lacked the knowledge to understand it] with humour. :)

Lol, I love ur descriptions. Just muted trolls that go reeeeeee. Lmao

go1 • 2 years ago

Forgot to mention:
These clowns reee'd at arifureta anime and it got second season.
Pog&Based Japan.

Triduo • 2 years ago

Paradoxe : Their only redeeming quality was the characters' designs. -__- Way too much memories of Mira needing a bathroom though.

Iced Up Dragon • 2 years ago

the racks on the valkeryies kept me intruiged

Kirito • 2 years ago

They all have one line in this scene and that cat is so cool he has so many lines and he even get to sit in that train and take a bath with Mira what cool cat it makes me wanna cry seeing how he's gonna be ok I'm gonna miss that first mate cat

Pugs-kun • 2 years ago

I'm surprised you managed to finish this anime despite all of those criticism haha

Ob/Gyn Kenobi • 2 years ago

Let the hate flow through you.

Kirito • 2 years ago

That loli saves the day just by hugging

2hands • 2 years ago

haha love how the anger for the time they made you waste comes thru

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

It feels good to let it all out for once. XD

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

I see from your avatar that you have good taste, but low-quality shows like this one can be fun too. Personally I looked forward to it every week, despite the lack of animation during the fights.

Anime is in a golden age right now, but unfortunately its popularity also leads to studios trying to cash in for the lowest possible investment. When it comes down to it, it's the Web Novel author's fault for signing a contract with such a cheap studio. Hopefully more authors will notice this and demand higher quality for their work. Anime of this low quality can only hurt LN sales, but I suppose many authors are desperate to sign a contract and willing to sacrifice their stories getting proper treatment.

The pee jokes were funny though. I don't care what anyone else says :)))

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

Kemono Friends S1, an anime from 5 years ago, might I add, didn't have great animation either, but it more than made up for that with its plot and characters, though S2 is left forgotten. What's this show's excuse? And while there ARE low-quality anime that can be fun, the difference is, those shows you're speaking of have some sort of value, whether it's a guilty pleasure, meme material, a funny moment or two, stuff like that, and we've seen PLENTY of that, so again, what's this show excuse?

This is 2022, and we're STILL getting low effort anime like this, this "low quality shows like this one can be fun too" excuse ain't cutting it anymore.

I DO side with you on studios capitalizing on trends for the lowest possible investment, but I'd also argue this kinda thing keeps happening in anime because we see people make BS excuses like this rather than call out the studios for making a garbage anime. Kinda like how gaming is right now. Pretty funny how in the anime community, people are silent on Bones for turning MHA into a cash cow yet idiots on Twitter will trash KyoAni because Ilulu from Dragon Maid has boobs and praise the arsonist. NOT kidding on the KyoAni part.

Triduo • 2 years ago

Paradoxe : Bad CGI's isn't a surprise anymore : We got "Kumo desu ga, nani ka ?" overusing it for all the action. That aside, the characters are better-looking than written, that's for sure. Also, it's not "toilet humor" but a "golden shower" fetish. Don't search for it on the net, you'll lose the last bits of sanity this anime's jokes left you.

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

Kumo's 3D monsters actually moved though. These just looked like a kid moving toys around.

Hyperion Supreme • 2 years ago

I might just have horrible taste or just not strongly opinionated, but I liked it. And the cgi was handled pretty nicely compared to Ex-Arm and So What if I'm a Spider. If you think about how everything looked cool and fluid when done in single frames instead trying to do scene-scene animation, it was decent.

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

I like this show more than Kumo Desuga, but the 3D in Kumo was way better. I don't know what everyone here is smoking. You guys need to rewatch an episode of Kumo because I think you are remembering it worse than it was.

Worst 3D of all was Arifureta though. Just really ugly with energy balls.

Hyperion Supreme • 2 years ago

I remember clearly, it's just a difference in how they were handled. It wasn't the worst cgi, just the scene-scene animation and then constantly changing animation type made it really messy and hurt my eyes to look at. But in this anime it's simplified and scenes don't last long enough to bother me. And yes Arifureta cgi is horrendous. But still nothing beats Ex-Arm in disgusting cgi.

AquAmps • 2 years ago

At least the World of Leadale one felt like it had some heart, this was just boring and sooooo dry. Hope there is no season 2, or by some miracle a season 2 of this anime becomes 100 times better than this one.

Yagami Kou • 2 years ago

The one good thing I can say about it is giving me a buffer while waiting for Fantasy Bishoujo.

Ohms Nuttachai • 2 years ago

Fantasy Bishoujou came out after The Genius Prince in my streaming platform so that benefit is already invalid to me lol

If anything, I needed to stay late watching this crap just to give the final verdict.

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

Pretty much. That, and Asaka singing the OP, even if she couldn't save this trainwreck.
Can't wait to see what she brings to the table in the Yuru Camp movie, assuming she's coming back ofc.

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

The funny thing is I actually got sick of Fantasy Bishoujo. The sense of humor was irritating to me. I would rather have pee jokes tbh.

Yagami Kou • 2 years ago

Well humor is subjective. There's a lot of comedy anime people swear by that are super funny but I just stare at blankly while watching.

Gizmo 2024 • 2 years ago

One could say you took a piss at this 🙃

Well F*ck... • 2 years ago

the pee jokes must be from the author but it somehow stopped in the manga(translated atleast for now, maybe...)

Nameless One • 2 years ago

comment sounded like it's a compliment at first until I reached the midpoint

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

It's actually a review lol.

Nameless One • 2 years ago

yeah, I thought op is going to compliment it until I started reading the latter half of the comment/review

Sweetbabyinc can suck it. • 2 years ago

I loved this anime, the seiyuu work made i totally worth it.... but that CGI.... that was ruff. What's wrong with Mira's holy water?

Graven • 2 years ago

All my points are for Pam she was the best thing in this anime.

Chryslr • 2 years ago

At least this series is tolerable compared to Isekai Trash Magician.

John Pushkin • 2 years ago

and the sad thing?
While nothing special, the LN and manga are enjoyable and fun, and the sad/bad humor, while still somewhat present is at least use as it should be - a single sentence/panel gag, that doesn't really break the pacing of the actual story.
It's like they decided to take (almost) everything worthwhile from the adaptation, just to concentrate on the fanservice and the gags, you know the exact opposite of what anyone not brain-dead would chose to do.
I don't think they could have made it much worse if they actually tried.

Gabre • 2 years ago

I don't get why they even bothered doing this adaptation.
The pacing and battle coriographies shows that there was obvious no quality control on the product, so no one really seemed to care about it at all.
Some people had to waste their time on animating this show that the people who greenlit it probably never watched a single second of in the end.

John Pushkin • 2 years ago

My guess?
Pure cashgrab.
A case of naked, inexcusable avarice, and a concerted lack of concern nor regard for consumer intelligence.

Dreamblade • 2 years ago

At least the VAs and music were good. And the character designs were cute. And the kitty.
